The CMA BÍO-BÍO has several technologically advanced basic workstations, which provide independent services, for broad spectrum of usage in various areas of scientific and technological development.
FT-IR Microscope Spotlight 400 & Spectrum Frontier, Perkin Elmer
The FTIR Spectrum Frontier, coupled to a microscope system Spotlight Model 400, is the last generation system in the study of images, ideal in the areas of materials, pharmaceutical, academic, forensic, biomedical and biomaterials. This system works in the Mid range (MID) and Close Range (NIR), which allows the study of a wide range of compounds. Spotlight 400 works in Transmission modes, reflectance and ATR mode, has a dual operating system and detection DuetTM allowing a significantly increase information obtaining from spectral data and id images. It has a variable resolution of 1.56 nm pixel with ATR, achieving exceptional images of the samples.
Confocal Microscope LSM700 Zeiss
Confocal scanning microscope with a semi motorized inverted stand, a comfortable touch screen that helps to control the filters and objectives as well as the use of focus and adjustments of the observation. The confocal scanning head has 2 high sensitivity detectors and 3 laser lines, which allows the collection of up to 3 different fluorescent markers in various focal planes. The acquisition software Zen 2011 provides a fast and intuitive work allowing visualization of both 3D images and as well images of orthogonal cuts. Furthermore, the software allows the analysis and refinement of each of the channels. This microscope is ideal for quick observation and general analysis of images with markers such as GFP, Alexa Fluor 488 – Cy3, Alexa Fluor 555 – Topro 3, Cy5 – Alexa Fluor 633 among others.

Confocal Spectral and Two Photon Microscope LSM780 NLO Zeiss
This system can produce deep, three-dimensional images of living tissue and structures up to about 0.5 mm thick with subcellular resolution. It is very useful in the study of subcelular structures such as spines and axonal processes in neurons that demand an image with a high signal to noise ratio over a large área or volumen due to wide distribution of neuronal processes.
CHARACTERISTICSInverted microscope with fully motorized stand, Axio Observer Z1 model.
Laser linesLaser lines of 405, 458, 488, 514, 561 and 633 nm. In addition, it has a pulsed laser multiphoton adjustable from 680-1080 nm in step of 1 nm that uses low energy photons (infrared) in extremely short pulses which reduces the damage caused by the beam of conventional laser in biological samples.

Super-Resolution Microscope ELYRA S.1 (SR-SIM) Zeiss
The resolving power of an optical microscope is limited to 200 nm laterally (x-axis) and 700 nm in the axial direction (z-plane) due to the physical constraints imposed by the diffraction of light. Using structured light technology and mathematical/computational analysis, we can exceed these limits, doubling the power of both lateral and axial resolution (100 and 350 nm). Super-resolution microscopy is reached by structured illumination (SIM-SR) with two lasers of 488 and 561 nm, achieving super-resolution in two colors, ideal for fine analysis and study of cell structures as the distribution of stress fibers and microfilaments, colocalization studies of synaptic markers, distribution analysis of trasnporters in the plasma membrane, etc.
Microscopy system for Laser Micro-disecction LMD 7000, Leica
This technique allows to cut and isolate microscopically a homogeneous piece of a sample from any type of starting heterogeneous tissue. Dissection of the sample is carried out through powerful ultraviolet laser of 349 nm which is controlled by a precise optical system free of mechanical movements. Some of its features are:
Flow Cytometer Cell Sorter BD FACSAria III
Flow cytometry allows simultaneous analysis and characterization of particles and / or cells and their subpopulations.
The cell sorting equipment BDFACSAria III also allows simultaneous separation and collection of up to 4 populations, with a range of size ranging from 0.2 to 50 µm.
The optical system is composed of two lasers, 488 nm and 633 nm, with the ability to detect 8 colors, 10 parameters (including FSC and SSC). The equipment setup is 5-3 (5 colors which are excited by the laser blue and 3 red) with the following filters: Blue laser (488nm): 780/60 BP, 695/40 BP, 616/23 BP, 585/42, 530/30. Red laser (633nm): 780/60BP, 730/45 BP, 660/20 BP.
Has integrated nozzle 70, 85 and 100 µm, that allows the analysis and separation of the majority of applications.
Quality control has Accudrop CST and assure us that the results are reliable.
